Ichthammol, with allantoin, or with zinc oxide.
Egoderm ointment contains ichthammol and zinc oxide, in a paraffin base. It also contains methyl hydroxybenzoate and propyl hydroxybenzoate as preservatives. It is lanolin- and cortisone-free.
Anti-inflammatory, soothing and mildly antipruritic.
Subacute dermatitis or eczema, persistent infantile eczema, dermatitis of face or hands; dry, fissured skin, maintenance therapy in psoriasis when skin is tender; alternative to corticosteroids for subacute skin eruptions for infants and adults.
Apply 3 times daily or as required. Cleanse daily with Pinetarsol (not soap) to maintain the natural slightly acidic nature of the skin and further reduce itching. Ordinary soaps are alkaline and may cause further irritation. After using the ointment for 5-7 days, persistent itchy areas may need slightly stronger Egopsoryl TA. Alternate with Egoderm if skin is tender.
Sensitivity to any ingredient of the cream and ointment. Acute weeping dermatoses.
